This course is part of the VVVV Intermediate Program of Summer Season 2024.
This course is part of a Stride Bundle consisting of 5 courses all together.

Welcome back to the world of 3D rendering in vvvv, powered by the immense rendering capabilities of the Stride Engine (formerly known as Xenko).

This workshop is a follow-up to our previous session where we covered the basics of 3D rendering with VL.Stride. If you are new to 3D rendering in VVVV, we highly recommend starting with that introduction.

Course Outline

During this workshop we will cover:

Learn to create and manipulate more complex materials, expanding your toolkit for visual expression.

The Material Pipeline in Depth:
Understand how materials are built under the hood to go beyond the default PBRMaterial nodes, unlocking advanced customization options.

Explore the use of transparent materials to achieve effects such as glass, water, and more.

Subsurface Scattering:
Dive into subsurface scattering, adding realism to materials like skin, wax, and fruits.

Generate simple glass-like materials for your projects, enhancing realism and visual appeal.

Smooth your geometry using materials, achieving finer detail and smoother surfaces.

Get a glimpse into a basic ClearCoat material setup, exploring experimental possibilities for enhancing material appearance.

Utilize different culling options to achieve various visual effects, optimizing rendering performance.

Material Layers:
Combine multiple materials into one to create more sophisticated and complex outcomes, expanding your creative possibilities.

Illuminate your 3D worlds with various lighting techniques, enhancing mood and atmosphere.

Well-Known Lighting Workflows:
Discover established lighting approaches used in the industry to achieve stunning visual results.

Light Shafts:
Create light shaft effects for captivating scenes, adding depth and drama to your renders.

Fine-tune shadow behavior and appearance to achieve realistic lighting effects.

Learn about the ShadowAtlas and its role in shadow rendering.

Explore the use of gobos to project patterns and shapes onto surfaces, adding visual interest to your scenes.

Elevate your renders with Depth of Field, Ambient Occlusion, Local Reflections, FXAA, Bloom, and more, achieving a polished and professional look.

Join us as we continue our exploration of 3D rendering in vvvv with the Stride Engine. Whether you’re new to the world of 3D rendering or looking to expand your knowledge, this workshop is designed to provide valuable insights and practical skills to take your projects to the next level!

This workshop is designed for participants with a basic understanding of VVVV. Familiarity with patching with VVVV and VL.Stride is an advantage.
