SS23 -10 – How to control and map Lasers with TouchDesigner
Recording in English Language
Just like “traditional” lights, lasers allow us to create and transform spaces beyond the screen. However, lasers are sharply bundled light beams capable of traversing long distances with almost no divergence. While they had a bad reputation in the aftermath of the infamous 80s laser shows, they have recently made a huge comeback, mainly as rays and planes of light visible in humid or foggy air, thus enabling virtual architectures and futuristic scenographies.
Your instructor Moritz Hilscher works with LaserAnimation Sollinger GmbH, one of the leading developers and manufacturers of laser systems for art, shows, and entertainment. Based in Berlin, LaserAnimation systems stand for quality, highest precision, and reliability. Having been used in many iconic productions, they are widely regarded as the best lasers for artistic applications.
Moritz will introduce participants to lasers as a creative medium, explain the dangers and conditions that need to be met to operate them, and, most importantly, show how one can control lasers from within TouchDesigner – opening up many use cases like projection mapping, audio visualization, and tracking. Participants will get access to the LA.preview laser simulation software and example networks that will help them get started in no time.
After the live lesson you will get access to the recording and the workshop files for one year.
