SS24 – TD 14 – Integrating AI into TouchDesigner Networks
August 7th 2024, 6 – 9 PM (UTC+2)
In English Language / Online via Zoom
Recordings are available and accessible for one year after purchase.
In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, AI isn’t just a trend. Beyond being able to quickly generate visuals and play with randomness, how do you harness AI as part of your workflow? Understanding and embracing AI’s capabilities is imperative to pushing beyond generating images and instead thinking meaningfully about how you can create meaningful and immersive interactive experiences. .
In this module, Brooklyn based interaction designer Lyell Hintz, also known as DotSimulate, will introduce different concepts of how to integrate generative AI into TouchDesigner networks.
In the first half of the session, Lyell will demonstrate how to install and leverage the node-based Comfy UI environment to create powerful process chains that can be utilised within the creative and well connected playground that TouchDesigner is. In the second half, Lyell will share components and project files he’s built and demonstrate their inner workings so you can not only integrate AI into your own TouchDesigner projects, but you can also start to build your own systems.
Combining discovery through play, and a design approach that analyzes AI workflows as collapsable workflows in TouchDesigner, in this module you will learn how to apply AI tools and techniques in your own process.
Requirements
This module is made for participants, who have a basic understanding of TouchDesigner, but do not need any experience with shader languages. If you just getting started, please visit our Beginners Course first.
- A recent PC or MAC Computer (discrete GPU recommended) with stable internet connection.
- All techniques teached in this course will work on MAC, but note that the generation time for certain things will be considerably slower.
- Be prepared to download and store some of the larger model files beforehand (~20GB)
- The latest build of TouchDesigner installed
- 3-Button Mouse recommended
