About the Course
Join us for a 7-session masterclass on Creative Robotics, presented in collaboration with the Creative Robotics Lab at the University of Art and Design Linz.
Hosted by Amir Bastan, an educator and researcher at Creative Robotics, this course explores how robots can become creative partners in artistic projects. By merging engineering with artistic expression, robots are transformed into versatile tools for creating interactive installations, dynamic visual designs, innovative digital fabrications and further research into human-robot interaction.
Amir will guide you through the fundamentals of Creative Robotics, helping you develop and refine your own concepts and applications. You’ll also learn important safety measures, best practices for planning robotic projects and gain insights into different types of robotic systems, including their advantages and limitations for creative use.
The Creative Robotics at Linz University of Art, in collaboration with Robots in Architecture, Ars Electronica, and KUKA, offers a rich environment for integrating digital creativity with physical execution. Amir will introduce you to his robot simulation library within the visual programming environment vvvv, a tool designed to help you conceptualize and implement robotic systems in your projects.
The masterclass concludes with a hands-on session in Berlin, where participants will meet in person and work directly with real robots. DETAILS TBD…
This final experience will highlight the physical and sensory aspects of robotics, providing essential insights into how robots interact with and influence the physical space.
The course proposes a production pipeline built in VVVV but is not limited to a single software and open to all approaches which help to shape your future in creative robotics.
