Helin Ulas is a visual artist and designer based in Berlin. Her work delves into the intersection of technology, real-time media environments, and performance art. She uses new media tools to create performance pieces and video installations that challenge traditional notions of audience engagement, often resulting inparticipatory experiences. Ulas researches the socio-political changes and their effects on communities, ecologies, examining how they, influenced by technology, shape culture. Ulas has been a founding member of the collective Automaton, where she researched the social impacts of technology and representation in performance and new media arts. She creates platforms for community building and knowledge sharing through her work with Kanapé Collective. Ulas further works as an academic researcher and lecturer at HfG Karlsruhe and a lecturer at NYU IMA Low Res, where she teaches real-time media creation and visual programming.
