Diana
Serbanescu

With a double background in performing arts and new media, Diana Serbanescu (aka Neranti) is a Berlin-based transdisciplinary performance maker, actor, researcher, and creative director of REPLICA; born and bread in the Romanian city of Contanta, by the Black Sea, and educated in Romania, Germany and Scotland – she has developed her performance practice as her place of authenticity, playfulness, and rebellion. She considers the embodied aspect of the performative practice to be one of its radical strengths. In the last four years – after taking several workshops with companies such as Studio Matejka, Song of the Goat, Orchestral Theatre Ensemble and through training and collaborating with artists such as Ditte Berkley and Ilona Krawczyk– Diana has become increasingly interested in the work with the embodied voice and with polyphonic singing. In her recent projects – Dancing at the Edge of the World (2021) and Embodied Voice & AI (2022) she explored incorporating these performative knowledges and practices in the design of wearable devices functioning as electronic musical instruments attached on the body.
