The Touchdesigner Roundtable Berlin is a meeting point for creatives and developers that work with the visual development platform TouchDesigner099 as well as everybody that is curious about the world of interactive media art and the people behind it. As you all know the virus is making it not a good to meet face to (cough) face these days, but we don’t want to miss out on the lovely people and interesting guests we got used to host once a month at the Node Institute in Berlin. We all understand in these days more than ever, that being together in a room as a group has it’s own qualitiy, However there are also a lot of things that work remotely. Thus we invite you to join us for the next TouchDesigner Roundtable in cyberspace. Technically the presenters and moderators are going to meet in a private videoconference with screensharing. This mini conference is going to be streamed to YouTube and Twitch.

We are going to stray from the path and are exited to welcome Thomas Kombuechen, one of the creators of a brand new addition to the #nodefamily. Cables is a node based visual programming tool that runs completely in the browser. With a smart and clean contemporary user interface Cables is fun to play with and enables #nodeheads to author interactive webGL applications by patching rather than writing code. We will discuss how communication between #touchdesigner and Cables could look like and how familiar concepts can be adapted easily.

The second presentation comes from Berlin based artist Robert Seidel. In his films Seidel is interested in pushing the boundaries of organic beauty and their emotional perception with visual and scientific technology. By layering different structural, spatial and temporal concepts organically he creates a slowly evolving complexity. This multifaceted perspective, a kind of narrational skeleton is filled by the viewers own memory and creates a seamless blend with the artwork itself.

Davide Santini is joining us from Italy. He is working on a component based on the new WebServer DAT. It is a tox that automatically recreates an interface made in TD on a webpage, multi-client and accessible from any device that has a browser. The component is currently in the testing phase and David would like to hear the communities thoughts about it.

This will be a bit of an experiment and I hope you understand that things may go wrong. If they do, please stay tuned, we will be working hard to come back to you asap. Although it is sad we can’t meet as we used to, we are especially exited to share the Roundtable with our international friends. If you have any project you would like to show or discuss at the next Roundtable, dont hesitate to get in … Touch : )
