Content Creation for FullDome
Join generative artist and educator Simon Ryden (aka Supermarket Sallad) for a hands-on Masterclass focused on designing and producing immersive content for one of the most compelling media formats: the fulldome. In partnership with b-dome Berlin, this course offers a rare opportunity to develop a high-resolution audiovisual piece tailored to a 19-meter geodesic dome equipped with six 21K projectors, 5.1 surround sound, and a state-of-the-art playback system.
Participants will work online in an international cohort, exploring creative approaches using real-time simulation to overcome the inherent production challenges of dome environments—such as extreme resolutions, limited preview capabilities, and spatial storytelling. While TouchDesigner will serve as the primary tool, the course welcomes diverse workflows including any 3D or 2D animation software.
You’ll go through a structured, iterative process from idea to storyboard to animation, sound design, and delivery—culminating in a pre-rendered, 2-minute audiovisual work. Emphasis is placed on group collaboration, critique, and leveraging spatial sound for a truly immersive impact. Simon Ryden, known for his widely followed tutorials, brings a strong track record in creative education and production to guide you through each step of the process.
The course concludes in Berlin with a final screening at BDome, where you’ll present your piece to peers, dome staff, and the creative tech community. The evening wraps up with a shared dinner and another showcase night at Studio1111 featuring live performances from the VJ Masterclass and DJ sets.

B-dome is a geodesic dome, designed for 360° immersive events. with 19 meters of diameter and a negative pressure projection system. It leverages six 21K Panasonic projectors to create brilliant 360º visuals along with immersive 5.1 surround sound. Unlike Planetariums that have fixed seating and heave star projectors right at the center, b-dome is offering an open space to organisers and audiences, that allows for a wide range of experiences to be staged.
Located in the RAW Gelände, one of Berlin’s iconic areas, is just steps away from the historic Berlin Wall, the renowned East Side Gallery, and many bars and clubs, b-dome is not only a venue but a landmark destination just a few steps away from S-Bahnhof Warschauer Strasse.

What if you can not attend the Screening in Berlin, Germany?
We are aware that most participants do not live in Germany, and some of you may not be able to attend the screening in person. For those participants, we will document their showcase in 360° video. We will also encourage other participants to shoot pictures and videos, so remote participants can get a multifaceted impression of how the content felt “in real life” and use the material for their portfolios.
Requirements
The course proposes a simulation pipeline built in TouchDesigner but is not limited to a single software and open to all approaches which help to shape your future in immersive shows. However, we recommend a basic understanding of TouchDesigner or vvvvv.
If you just getting started, please visit our Beginners Course first. It is further recommended to familiarize yourself with the free 3D software Blender and have at least a demo version of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop (or similar) at hands.

About the Instructor
Simon Rydén is a real-time generative artist specializing in TouchDesigner. His work explores immersive visual experiences, including visuals for Afterlife events, Robert Koch’s Future Sound performances, and the Blue Man Group’s New York show. Simon has also performed at the Labyrinth Dome in Bali, designed dome-specific VJ players used at performances in the SAT in Motreal, and exhibited at LOAD Gallery in Barcelona, and Studio 20 in Berlin, among other places. Under the alias supermarket_sallad on YouTube and Patreon, he shares his process with a global audience, providing insights into his creative process and the potential of real-time systems.
