Avinash Kumar : VJing: Playfulness as a Gateway to Media Art
Under the alias Thiruda, Avinash Kumar has been active in India’s electronic and media arts scene since 2007. His project Elsewhere in India explores generative AI and Indian cultural futures, touring internationally across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Avinash is co-founder of Quicksand, a futures and speculative design practice in the Global South, and founder-director of EyeMyth Media Arts Festival, a key platform for experimental moving image, immersive art, and cross-disciplinary practices in India. Through curation, research, and production, his work connects technology, culture, and speculative futures across artistic and civic contexts.
