We all love TouchDesigner for the creative mess it allows us to create. Everything connects to everything and it’s easy to experiment in unforseen ways. However, for every TouchDesigneur comes the moment, where she/he wants to tame the creative chaos and get ready to perform a show on a big stage, and suddenly one exiting patch is not enough. Or you have to make sure that this beautiful, yet fragile interactive masterpiece of yours is working every day of the week from seven in the morning until eight at night.
Stefan Kraus will guide you through this course and explain how to setup up projects in an optimised and reliable way. With a few simple tricks, you avoid frame drops, crashes, jittery video playback and many other traps that can make show creation in a real time environment challenging.
Sequence live or automated shows and installations flawlessly and orchestrate lights, projections and sound without hick ups and shameful moments of reboot. After the live lesson you will get access to the recording and the workshop files for one year.
Requirements
This module is made for participants, who have a basic understanding of TouchDesigner, but do not need any experience with shader languages. If you just getting started, please visit our Beginners Course first.
- A recent PC or MAC Computer (discreet GPU recommended) with stable internet connection
- The latest build of TouchDesigner installed
- Zoom Client installed (please test your audio setup beforehand)
- 3-Button Mouse recommended
About the Instructor

The Berlin based media artist and educator, Stefan Kraus, is co-founder of the creative coding education hub, The NODE Institute, the projection mapping festival, Genius Loci Weimar, and the media art studio, MXZEHN. Trained as an architect at Bauhaus-University Weimar, Stefan explores the augmentation of physical structures using interactive and generative media and the narrative potential of abstract imagery. He holds a special interest in the art of live visual improvisation and creates augmented scenographies for theater, dance and music performances. Stefan enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with the students of different universities and the creative coding community. His studio produces interactive installations, live media performances and augmented reality applications for commercial clients, festivals, institutions and exhibitions.
