In this module, Stefan Kraus will show how to use TouchDesigner for an advanced mapping workflow, that leverages simulation and semi automatic mapping for even the most complex structures.

Description

Recording in English Language

Projection Mapping refers to the idea of mapping existing or specifically created objects, like buildings or stage designs with video or laser projections. The technique has become very popular in recent years and TouchDesigner offers a palette of tools that help artists to achieve pixel perfect projection mapping from small, experimental projects to huge installments with dozens of projectors. While most projection mappings are pre-rendered CGI animations, TouchDesigner offers the possibility to create real time content on the fly and use VJing techniques to perform live with musicians and dancers, or create interactive mappings.

In this module, Stefan Kraus will show how to use those tools and introduce an advanced mapping workflow, that leverages simulation and semi automatic mapping for even the most complex structures, that you will be able to adapt to your own projects.

However, projection mapping is as much about understanding the real world constrains and the necessary production technology as it is about the software employed. Stefan will draw from two decades of practical experience to explain by means of real world examples how to plan, prepare and conduct stunning illusions and how to avoid the many traps that line the way.

After the live lesson you will get access to the recording and the workshop files for one year.
