SUMMARY:NOCODE 2 – New Media Art with VVVV
DESCRIPTION:How to make New Media Art the serious way?\n\n\n\nNew Media Week calls Berlin a global epicenter for digital art and while we agree\, we’d like to add that Berlin is also a hot spot for education in visual programming for experience designers from around the world. So when we were asked\, what we would like to contribute to this city wide celebration of digital creativity\, the answer cam easy to us: \n\n\n\nA bit more than six years ago\, we started to host vvvv and TouchDesigner workshops and meetups at The NODE Institute in Neukölln and while we strongly believe in the benefits of online education\, we often think back to those early days\, when a dozen people came together to spend the day in the world of visual programming. Many careers and friendships have started here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo celebrate New Media Week\, we look forward to gather once again a dozend curious minds in our studio and take them on a trip into the powerful patching world of VVVV. \n\n\n\nJoin media artist and educator Alessandro Maggioni if you want to learn more about the fast and fresh combination of VL and vvvv gamma\, that powers some of the most anticipated new media experiences of today. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n14:00 UHR / 2:00 PM / noCODE 2 – NEW MEDIA ART with VVVV\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the workshop for a first glimpse into vvvv Gamma node-based programming language. SUMMARY:Visual Programming for the Web with Cables.GL
DESCRIPTION:In person workshop in English laguage at The NODE Institute\, Wipperstr. 13\, 12055 Berlin\, Germany \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is cables?\n\n\n\nCables is an online tool which works inside the browser which allows people to create interactive visual web content without having to type a line of code. Much like TouchDesigner and VVVV it leverages visual programming and modern GPUs to enable intuitive\, yet powerful interactive audiovisual programming for artists and developers alike. \n\n\n\nCables provides you with many different operators such as mathematical functions\, shapes and materials\, which you connect to each other using virtual cables to create the scene you have in mind. Easily export your piece of work at any time as a video\, embed it into your website or use it for any kind of creative installation. Use mobile devices\, midi devices\, game controllers\, cameras\, mouse\, keyboard\, VR and web technologies to create and share interactive content – all in one place – your browser. \n\n\n\nCables is being developed by undev\, a Berlin based creative studio for interactive realtime graphics\, data-visualizations and app development. Cables is free to use and always will be.https://cables.gl/home \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is using cables?\n\n\n\n\ndigital artists – cables allows creators to make art with technology and data \n\n\n\nmotion designers – with a fully developed timeline everything can be animated with ease \n\n\n\nweb developers – anything made with cables can be exported and added to a webpage in seconds\n\n\n\nstudents – wanting to learn digital arts and interactive media \n\n\n\n\nCommunity\n\n\n\nCables patches can be published\, shared\, copied and remixed by the entire community. This allows people to constantly learn new things from each other. Cables holds weekly meetups on their discord server and sometimes at The NODE Institute. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis full day\, in person workshop will get participants started with the software. Learn how to use visual programming to create interactive audiovisual animations. The course is addressing total beginners as well as developers and creatives that are already familiar with other creative coding environments. \n\n\n\nLearn about projects that get the community excited and how they were done. Understand how to build your own projects with hands-on exercises and use the opportunity for assisted exploration towards the end of the day. \n\n\n\nGet to know the instructors and the other participants during a group lunch (not included) and feel free to stay for a drink after the workshop. \n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\nNo previous knowledge of Cables and programming is necessary. You should have a fairly recent Mac\, PC or Linux laptop computer with a 3- button mouseto be able to take part in the exercises. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructors\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://cables.glhttps://undev.studio \n\n\n\n\n\nThomas (Tom) Kombüchen aka pandur is an autodidact programmer and visual artist. Having worked across the digital agency landscape for many years\, he has extensive experience in digital product design and development. Tom has always been drawn to visual programming and real time animations. As an active member of the so-called demoscene\, he has been developing animated realtime demonstrations as a hobby for more than 25 years. Spotting the potential of WebGL early on\, Tom decided to build his very own visual programming engine. Today\, ‘cables’ helps coders\, designers and artists create interactive immersive experiences directly in the browser. He is the co-founder of ‘undev’\, a development and design studio which uses cables for commercial client projects as well as digital art. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://cables.glhttps://undev.studio \n\n\n\n\n\nStephan Maihöfer aka steam started web-development back in the mid-1990s\, when everything was fresh and new. Ever since he continued working on web-projects. In the last 20 years Stephan worked on web-projects for companies spanning the gaming industry\, tv-stations\, city-portals\, mobile-payment\, recruiting-software and more\, both as an employee and in freelance jobs. His interests draw him more to the backend side of what is cables. Stephan feels at home working with APIs\, databases and larger data sets. His first contact to graphics programming happened via the so-called demoscene at Evoke 2003\, and that fascination never went away. To bring visual programming to the web and make it easy for everyone (like him) he co-founded ‘undev’ with Thomas Kombüchen in 2010.

SUMMARY:stretching senses school festival
DESCRIPTION:We were invited to help put together this beautiful project\, that combines interdisciplinary research with practical explorations. With the “stretchin senses school festival”\, some of the works that have been developed in the course of several workshops finally meet the public: \nFeeling limestone grow from the inside and seeing its dispersion as urban landscape; experiencing an amphitheater through vibrations of willow branches; reaching out to the hidden electrical energies of things around us; touch the surface of cellular tissues. The »stretching senses school« festival exhibits site-specific virtual reality artworks from ongoing research at the Cluster at TA T\, in the continuation of the »Stretching Materialities« exhibition. \nHow can we stretch our senses to explore the world at different scales? Around the thematic of planetary health\, the festival brings together different projects that evolved out of a co-educative experiment between multimodal anthropology and immersive interaction art\, curated by Maxime Le Calvé and Yoonha Kim\, assisted by Anne Delle. The event on June 23rd-25th features five new VR installations and a fantastic lineup of digital performance lectures by leading environmental thinkers Tim Morton\, Dominic Boyer\, Lisa Messeri and John Tresch. \nWorkshops \n23 June\, 10:00 am – 1:00 pmWorkshop »Antennas«: »Willowalks: Sound Exploration Through Willow Branches«by Chloé Lee\, Samuel Perea-Díaz\, Vanta \n24 June\, 10:00 am – 1:00 pmWorkshop »Leaking Bodies«: »Enter the Flow of Incontinent Matter«by Charlotte Roschka\, Hugo Larqué\, Karolina Żyniewicz\, Jemma Woolmore\, Mickey van Olst \n25 June\, 10:00 am – 1:00 pmWorkshop »Subterranean Matters«: »Extracting the Surface« \nby Baris Pekcagliyan\, Warja Rybakova\, Nayeli Vega\, Paulina Greta\n Limited attendance to the workshops\, please register to: dellanne [at] hu-berlin.de \nLectures \n23 June\, 6:15–7:45 pm\, Opening LectureLisa Messeri (Yale University)»Senses\, Scales\, Worlds: Virtual Reality and the Possibilities and Constraints of Thinking Otherwise«Introduction: Wolfgang Schäffner (Director MoA\, HU Berlin)Curatorial Statement: Yoonha Kim & Maxime Le Calvé (MoA\, HU Berlin) \n24 June\, 6:15–7:45 pm\, Performance LectureTim Morton & Dominic Boyer (Rice University)»Hyposubjects: an Evening of Improv Philosophy«Introduction: Jörg Niewöhner (IfEE\, IRIS Thesys\, HU Berlin) \n25 June\, 6:15–7:45 pm\, Closing LectureJohn Tresch (Warburg Institute)»Cosmograms: Making and Stretching World« \nIntroduction: Claudia Mareis (Co-Director MoA\, HU Berlin) \nPerformance \n23 June\, 6:00 pmOpening Performance: »Chōri Dance«by Shuntaro Yoshida\, Maharu Maeno\, Hoa Yun Chung \nVR Site-Specific Works \n \nAntennas\nby Chloé Lee\, Samuel Perea-Díaz\, Vanta \n \nSubterranean Matters\n\nby Baris Pekcagliyan\, Warja Rybakova\, Nayeli Vega\, Paulina Greta \n\n \nLeaking Bodies\n\nby Charlotte Roschka\, Hugo Larqué\, Karolina Żyniewicz\, Jemma Woolmore\, Mickey van Olst \n\n\n\n\n \nVirtual Sensing Knife & Haptic Hanbok\n\nBy Vanta\, Nico Espinoza\, Yoonha Kim\, Fardin Gholami\, Maxime Le Calvé \n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \nTours can be booked on EventbriteFor the workshops register via Anne Delle\nDATES \n23.6.2022–25.6.2022\, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM\nLOCATION \n \nTieranatomisches TheaterCampus Nord\, Haus 3Philippstraße 1310115 Berlin

SUMMARY:Shiny generative graphics with vvvv
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for generative artists who start to explore the power of vvvv gamma’s 3D Engine (VL.Stride).\n\nThe online Workshop will guide you through the process of creating the title image used for the release of vvvv gamma 2021.3 as seen here: https://vvvv.org/blog/vvvv-gamma-2021.3-release. \nIn the course of 3 hours we’ll create this generative image step-by-step without cutting any corners. Every single topic and technique involved will be covered\, only as much as needed. To be honest\, we’ll just scratch the surface of what’s possible\, but this will give you a good head start into the amazing construction kit that vvvv is. \nYou will learn how to:\n1. Create a generative 3d structure \n2. Render the scene efficiently by using instancing \n3. Define and assign materials to the instanced objects \n4. Deal with performance issues while rendering the 4k image \n5. Split up the patch into separate parts to avoid a mess and enhance performance\, even when you are “just” prototyping. \nRequirements:\nYou should be familiar with the basics of patching in vvvv gamma. \nThese videos will help you with that:  \n1. First Steps: https://youtu.be/eFVFKxhsrS8 \n2. Building a Simple 3d Scene: https://youtu.be/Cs60A_pSIy0 \nRecording:\n This workshop will be recorded.\nIn case you cannot make it on the date of the event\, you will have the possibility to purchase a separate access to the recording afterwards.\n \nBy buying a ticket for this live workshop you agree that your image\, voice and screenshare are part of the recording and thus will be available for everyone afterwards. \nInstructor
