SUMMARY:Shiny generative graphics with vvvv
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for generative artists who start to explore the power of vvvv gamma’s 3D Engine (VL.Stride).\n\nThe online Workshop will guide you through the process of creating the title image used for the release of vvvv gamma 2021.3 as seen here: https://vvvv.org/blog/vvvv-gamma-2021.3-release. \nIn the course of 3 hours we’ll create this generative image step-by-step without cutting any corners. Every single topic and technique involved will be covered\, only as much as needed. To be honest\, we’ll just scratch the surface of what’s possible\, but this will give you a good head start into the amazing construction kit that vvvv is. \nYou will learn how to:\n1. Create a generative 3d structure \n2. Render the scene efficiently by using instancing \n3. Define and assign materials to the instanced objects \n4. Deal with performance issues while rendering the 4k image \n5. Split up the patch into separate parts to avoid a mess and enhance performance\, even when you are “just” prototyping. \nRequirements:\nYou should be familiar with the basics of patching in vvvv gamma. \nThese videos will help you with that:  \n1. First Steps: https://youtu.be/eFVFKxhsrS8 \n2. Building a Simple 3d Scene: https://youtu.be/Cs60A_pSIy0 \nRecording:\n This workshop will be recorded.\nIn case you cannot make it on the date of the event\, you will have the possibility to purchase a separate access to the recording afterwards.\n \nBy buying a ticket for this live workshop you agree that your image\, voice and screenshare are part of the recording and thus will be available for everyone afterwards. \nInstructor

SUMMARY:Machine learning for interaction designers
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for interaction designers who work with vvvv. The online workshop by french creative coder Seb Escudié will introduce you to tools enabling you to leverage machine learning capabilities in your own vvvv patches.\n\nAs the name of the webinar suggests\, we’ll talk about machine learning through the prism of interactive installations. We won’t go into much details inside the math behind it. This is actually the whole point of this webinar: there are some tools out there that can help us leverage the capabilities of machine learning without having to know too much about what’s under the hood. \nThrough a series of practical examples (and a tiny bit of theory!)\, we’ll try to understand what machine learning is\, and how using it can help us in our everyday patching life\, and allow us to do things that would be very tedious to do without it. \nYou will learn how to:\n\nWhat are machine learning and deep learning \nUse RunwayML trained model in your vvvv patches \nTalk to the Wekinator \nTrain your own models with Microsoft Lobe \n\nRequirements:\n\nWindows PC with latest stable vvvv gamma \n3 buttons mouse \nYou should be familiar with the basics of patching in vvvv gamma \nA free RunwayML account \nThe Wekinator software installed on your computer \nLatest version of Microsoft LOBE installed on your computer \n \n  \n\nInstructor

SUMMARY:Building a game from scratch with VVVV gamma
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar we’re going to build a simple game and along the way get familiar with how to structure the different components of applications in vvvv gamma.\nThis webinar is ideal as a follow up option if you took one of the vvvv gamma introduction webinars we are offering. \nOnce you’re familiar with the basics of the visual language you might need a little challenge. Building a game from scratch is a usually a good way of diving deeper. Games have all the aspects of proper applications. They require you to handle user input\, manage the game logic\, maybe keep a high-score or save a state to disk so it can be recalled the next day. So in this webinar we’re going to build a simple game and along the way get familiar with how to structure the different components of applications. \nYou can find all infos on vvvv gamma and VL on http://visualprogramming.net \nYou will learn how to:\n\n# Structure a program# Model data types to fit a given scenario# Deal with user input# Load/Save game state to disk \n\nRequirements:\n\n# Windows PC# 3 button mouse# You should be familiar with the basics of patching in vvvv gamma. \n\nyour instructor\n \n \n Joreg \n \n  \n \nCreative Coder \nCreative Coder\, Developer\, Educator\, Founder\, Software Developer\, Technologist: Joreg is co-founder of vvvv.org and core-developer of the multipurpose toolkit vvvv and the general purpose visual programming language VL. SUMMARY:Reactive patching with vvvv gamma
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, we’re introducing you to the basic concepts of visual reactive programming with vvvv gamma.\n\nYou’re familiar with the basics of vvvv gamma but want to understand more? VL offers features that will help you to create more complex and performant programs. \nIn this webinar\, we’re introducing you to the basic concepts of reactive programming. The new Reactive category gives you tools to handle asynchronous events\, background calculations and even enables you to build your own mainloop that runs on a different CPU core. But let’s start with a pragmatic explanation of what it is:  \n\nReactive programming is programming with asynchronous data streams\nIn a way\, this isn’t anything new. Event buses or your typical click events are really an asynchronous event stream on which you can observe and do some side effects. Reactive is that idea on steroids. You are able to create data streams of anything\, not just from click and hover events. Streams are cheap and ubiquitous\, anything can be a stream: variables\, user inputs\, properties\, caches\, data structures\, etc. For example\, imagine your Twitter feed would be a data stream in the same fashion that click events are. You can listen to that stream and react accordingly. On top of that\, you are given an amazing toolbox of functions to combine\, create and filter any of those streams. \nAndré Staltz \n  \n\n  \nSince a while VVVV and VL use these so called Observables to handle external events (i.e. mouse\, keyboard etc.) and asynchronous data. This was mostly under the hood and the actual operations for observables are hidden in the VL.DevLib. The reason is that out of the box the operations do not go well together with the frame based Update concept of VL because they are intended to be called only once or when something has changed. But as of now we have wrapper nodes for the most common observable operations that do exactly that\, listen for change and only rebuild the observables when necessary. \n Blog post on reactive programming Reference in the gray book \nIn the webinar you will learn how to:\n\nWork with Observables \nReact on device events \nRun computations on a background thread \nShare data between Observable events and the mainloop \n\nRequirements:\nThis workshop assumes that you’re familiar with the basics of patching in vvvv gamma.\nInstructor\n \n \n Tebjan Halm \n \nTonfilm \nArtist\, Creative Coder\, Designer\, Developer\, Educator\, Media Designer\, Researcher\, Software Developer\, Technologist: Tebjan Halm has studied mathematics and computer science and is closely related to the vvvv group as a core developer since 2004. He also does contract work as software consultant and developer of media projects for several agencies in europe. \n \nGeneral infos\n \nWe take a maximum of 10 participants. SUMMARY:Tame the Flame in TouchDesigner
DESCRIPTION:Flow is a realtime combustion simulation that can be used to create near photorealistic flames\, fire and smoke. However it is quite difficult to get its countless parameters under control. \nThis makes it a prime example to illustrate a preset driven workflow that allows artists to combine free flowing exploration with resuable and reliable results. \n\nIn this webinar Stefan Kraus will explain which parameters he found useful to unleash the potential for live performance and external control over the flames. With the help of Wieland Hilker (Author of the Alphamoonbase Tau Ceti Preset Engine) he will explain participants how to create beautiful\, performable and reproducable results within a reasonable time frame.Windows Versions only.  \nYou will learn how to\n\nCreate and manipulate photorealistic or surreal flames\, smoke and fog with NVIDIA Flow. \nUse Custom Parameters and the Tau Ceti Preset System to narrow control down to a few\, meaningful parameters. \nTurn the effect into a “Smart Content” Package that can run in its own process. \n\nPrerequisites\n\nYou should be familiar to navigate and work with TouchDesigner.  \nAs a minimum you should have passed the free Introduction to Touchdesigner Course here. \nFlow requires a DX11 capable GPU and Windows. \n\nABOUT NVIDIA FLOW \nvolumetrix NVIDIA FLow \nNVIDIA Flow is a volumetric fluid based simulation of a burning gas system. The user controls the 3 main factors of temperature\, fuel\, and smoke to create fire and smoke simulations. \nWhile this can useful inside TouchDesigner if you want to speed up your post-processing workflow\, what we really want is to squeeze art instead of explosions out of this volumentric generator.  \nPresets are the missing link between the free flowing exploration and experimentation that we love in TouchDesigner and the demands of a queued show. Store and recall different states and styles on the fly. \n\n#generativedesign #interactiondesign #smoke #flames #fog #postprocessing #depthmaps #audiovisual #animations #compositing #realtime #volumetric #effects \n\n Instructors \n \n Stefan Kraus \n \n  \n \nMedia Artist \nDirector\, Scenographer\, Artist and Designer but VJ at heart.
