Like Dew And Like Lightning — Meet Aka Chang
17 Apr 2026 , 17:00 – 22:30 CEST

Join us for a Meet the Artist evening with Aka Chang, whose practice explores light as a spatial and structural medium. Working with lasers, beams, and atmospheric elements like smoke, he creates geometric forms that evolve in response to sound and environment.
On the eve of his solo exhibition Like Dew And Like Lightning, we open up his process: starting with a TouchDesigner workshop, followed by an artist talk, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes session. Together, these sessions offer insight into how light-based works are developed—from early visual experiments to technical setup and spatial considerations.
The evening closes with a casual social gathering.
19:00 UHR / 7:00 PM / ARTIST TALK

Aka Chang (Chang Fangyu) is a Taipei-based light artist known for his monumental, geometry-driven audiovisual installations. Emerging from an early career as a VJ, his work evolved toward a radical reduction of form—where points become lines, lines become structures, and light itself becomes the medium.
His installations are shaped by sound, space, and atmosphere. Using high-powered light systems and particulate environments such as smoke, Chang creates dynamic structures that respond to audio signals—often breaking apart under high frequencies.
His work reflects a long-term exploration of perception, scale, and the relationship between human presence and light structures in space.
20:00 UHR / 8:00 PM / OPENING PERFORMANCE

A powerful opening performance by Aka Chang marks the beginning of the exhibition. Using high-powered lasers and dense fog, he shapes minimal geometric elements into immersive, audio-reactive structures—where light becomes architecture, and perception itself is set in motion.
21:00 UHR / 9:00 PM / BEHIND THE SCENES WITH AKA CHANG & FUNCTION STORE

A central part of the evening is a guided tour through three of Aka Chang’s installations. We will walk through each work, exploring the artistic ideas behind them and how these concepts are translated into technical systems. Aka will be joined by Dan Molnar aka Function Store, who contributed sophisticated control software to the mix. From visual composition to real-time control in TouchDesigner, this session offers a rare look at how artistic intent becomes a functioning light installation.
