Mastering POPs: The Future of 3D Data Manipulation in TouchDesigner

February 12th, 6 – 9 PM, Berlin Time
In English Language / Online via Zoom
or as Recording
Recordings are available and accessible for one year after purchase.

Step into the future of 3D data manipulation with an eye-opening course on POPs (Point Operators), the revolutionary new set of GPU-accelerated operators in TouchDesigner. POPs bring together the best of SOPs, CHOPs, and TOPs while pushing beyond their limitations, offering a modern, speed-optimized, and memory-efficient approach to 3D processing. Whether you’re working with points, polygons, particles, point clouds, or line strips, this course will guide you through mastering these powerful procedural tools, enabling you to create complex 3D visuals without needing to write compute shaders.

What You’ll Learn:

  1. Introduction to POPs:
    • Understanding the evolution of operators in TouchDesigner: SOPs, CHOPs, and TOPs.
    • Overview of POPs: What they are and why they represent the future of 3D data manipulation.
    • Exploring the GPU-based architecture of POPs for unprecedented speed and efficiency.
  2. Working with 3D Data:
    • Manipulating points, polygons, point clouds, and particles using POPs.
    • Techniques for creating and controlling complex line strips and other 3D geometries.
    • Leveraging the memory-optimized nature of POPs for handling large-scale 3D datasets.
  3. Combining POPs with SOPs, CHOPs, and TOPs:
