Artist Talk / February 13 / 12.00 AM
Milkorva : Exploring Digital Ecosystems

In his talk, Nicolas Michel (Milkorva) presents selected projects exploring the interplay between natural phenomena, abstraction, and digital technology. After a short introduction to his practice, he offers a behind-the-scenes look at his fulldome performance featured at the festival, revealing how generative visuals, audio-reactive structures, and spatial composition come together. He also introduces an accessible TouchDesigner tool for configuring and deforming point clouds, developed for beginner to intermediate users and available via his Patreon, reflecting his approach to practical, flexible toolmaking.

Nicolas Michel (aka Milkorva) is a Paris-based visual & new media artist, and a graduate in Contemporary Art from the Sorbonne. He creates generative and immersive installations, placing at the core of his work the evolving and unpredictable nature of elements. His pieces capture the essence of natural phenomena, digitally reinterpreting them in a quest to bridge the figurative and the abstract. His works capture the essence of natural phenomena, digitally reinterpreting them in a quest for dialogue between the figurative and the abstract. The artist employs generative algorithms and advanced simulations to create constantly evolving digital ecosystems. His creations, accompanied by rich, audio-reactive soundscapes, invite introspection and question our relationship with reality. Exhibited in renowned venues such as the Grand Palais, the Boston Museum of Science, Sonar Istanbul, and Miami Art Basel, his works offer a contemplative experience that is both personal and universal. Through ever-evolving works, mirroring the natural forces that inspire him, Milkorva invites the viewer to rethink their perception of the world.
